Mohammed Bin Hamann, the head of the Asian FA has claimed that the Wellington Pheonix should be kicked out of the A-League before 2010. This is because Australia is part of the Asian FA whereas New Zealand is part of the Pacific FA, and should the Pheonix win the A-League, they would qualify for the Asian Champions League, even though they are on the wrong continent. Mohammed Bin Hamann has been planning to kick the Pheonix out in 2010, but Sepp Blatter, the head of FIFA has dramatticaly stepped in, in an attempt to keep the Wellington Based franchise in the competition, and making them elligible to qualify for the Asian Champion's League. What does this mean for world football? Will we soon see AC Milan Qualifying for the Pacific Champions League so they can easily pass into the Club World Cup? Your thoughts please!

Re: Blatter to the Rescue???????????
To be honest, this is just a pointless academic debate. No-one in a high position cares enough about the A league enough to make a serious deal out of this and Blatter is thinking that let them be, they arn't doing any harm. And if they do win there will be exemption made for them. Bin Hamman or whoever is just throwing his weight around.

Re: Blatter to the Rescue???????????
The thing he's probably grumpy about is that there could potentially be two NZ based teams competing in the club world cup. Should the Pheonix go on to win the A-league (unlikely) and then the Asian Champion's League (VERY unlikely) they could come up against the regular New Zealand team from the pacific confederation at the club world cup, which would be a tad strange

Re: Blatter to the Rescue???????????
I'd say that the Phoenix would just replace the other team from New Zealand, or there would be a play off of sorts. But i maintain that this will not come into fruision as Sepp Blatter will just overule.
