Is Money The Real Enemy?
I fairly sure it's what the players will do for money that worries me. Being a Chelsea fan, I read the salaries and almost puke everytime. These guys earn enough to retire and live comfortably in about one month. Introducing salary caps will not necessarily solve the problem, because then we will see more and more endorsment deals popping up everywhere with players hoping to keep earning at the same levels, and what would be worse than seeing you're favourite goalkeeper in an add for heat pumps?

Re: Is Money The Real Enemy?
My response to this is pro-salary caps. Upon the introduction of salary caps the quality of the leagues would begin to even out. The "big four" or the dominance of Barca and Madrid in La Liga would begin to decline. The teams in mid table would have a realistic chance of winning, thus upon the introduction of the salary cap the leagues would become much more unpredictable and exciting, also it would be good for the fans as everyone would go into the season with realistically high expectations and goals for their club.
What would eventuate is a situation similar to that of the NFL, where each team has an almost equal chance of getting to the "Superbowl", this makes the compitition more exciting and unpredictable.
However, me being a Charlton Athletic fan puts my argumentinto jepordy. I am very bias about the entire money issue in football, we don't have any, everyone else has billions at their disposal, thus natuarally I am bitter.

I'm sorry Tim, but Betis are too good. This year they aren't in the relegation battle so that means they'll get to Europe

The change in attitudes of players is one of the things that big clubs have done that I don't like

I am proud to say that Bryn Jones, the Welsh Defensive Mid was the first player to ever be transfered for a fee, 12,000 pounds from Peterborough to Crewe. Now even the players playing for Braintree get paid thousands of dollars a year.

Re: Is Money The Real Enemy?
It was the first transfer to be made by a private faction. The FA were responsible for all transfers up to that point and all the wages were paid by the league. The first private investement buy was for Jones
